Hi friends. I thought I would share some of the kitchen items that I own and depend on. I tend to do a lot of research before buying anything, so I hope this will save you some time!

These are my favorite plastic cutting boards. I love that they don’t have a “well” around the edge, which makes them easy to clean, and they’re very sturdy. I like to toss them in the dishwasher, like a football player throwing across the field. Kidding. Sort of.

For baking supplies, I like to look for materials that will last, and avoid the chemicals in non-stick surfaces. These baking pans are fabulous, and are easy to clean. They also nest nicely on my pan shelf. I like to use them for making oven bacon, chocolate chip cookies, and roasted frozen broccoli. We like (and use) them so much, we own two sets.

This is my toaster. It’s just cute. We have an emotional connection and that’s fine and totally not weird.

For pots/pans, we have an assortment. We have a couple stainless steel ones that have been ok- they do the job, but nothing to write home about (and the screwcaps on the outside of one have started to collect minerals like a relic on the bottom of the ocean from the Titanic), so I won’t recommend any of those.

😂.

But for cooking BREAKFAST FOODS (read: bacon, eggs, pancakes….fried potatoes and onions…#oneofmyfavoritesmealsoftheday), I love my Lodge cast iron skillets.

The key with cooking in cast iron is to use lots of FAT. Which, in moderation, is one of the great delights of life, as far as I’m concerned!

🙂 .

And though it’s an investment, this Les Creuset pot has been a foundation for a lot of cooking over the years. (I don’t recommend putting it in the dishwasher, though, even though it says on the box that you can.) It’s perfect for cooking tomato-based sauces and soups (like marinara sauce for spaghetti), because of its non-reactive ceramic coating. We love to use it for cooking black beans too.

The other thing I’ve started to enjoy slowly collecting in our kitchen is Polish pottery. It isn’t cheap exactly, which is why I say slow. But my favorite site, Polmedia Polish Pottery has a Facebook page, and you can watch their weekly sale videos, which have some of their lowest prices ever (they also tend to do sales around major holidays, which they’ll tell you about in their email list).

Our dishes. It’s a mix, including some Polish pottery (mostly middle shelf mugs), Target, World Market, and Dollar store finds (their white plates are great!). The blue bowls in front were made by a local potter. The Portmeiron on the top shelf was an heirloom passed down from my Grandma ❤️.

After injuring myself for years with the single-plane cheese graters, we finally got one that can be placed on a solid surface. #win. It does great and washes up easily in the dishwasher.

Alex loves to make pizza, and this is the BEST pizza peel. However, do not be dumb like we were for years, and try to use the peel to move dough directly onto a pizza stone with only corn meal under it (this has been the source of many a frustrated night!). Use PARCHMENT PAPER under it. Maybe someday I’ll write a post about it. Anyway, this is our trusty pizza peel.

some recent pizza 🙂

And this egg crate is great. We have two. We use it to hold eggs from my parents’ chickens, or store-bought eggs, too. It makes them easy to grab, and they also have done great in the dishwasher.

our cluttered fridge. you can spot the eggs in their little crates!

These bottles are super fun. We’ve enjoyed them for years. It’s nice to fill them with water, put them in your fridge, and pretend you’re in Italy!
