I got a new-to-me camera a month ago or so (refurbished, using points and with a coupon- yay!). It’s the Canon Powershot V10- a point and shoot for carrying around in my pocket. I like it so far! I like the video and the ability to take selfies like I used to when I had a regular cellphone (I currently don’t use a regular cellphone and have a Pinephone that isn’t always functional). I also like being able to record *video* again.. something I haven’t had easy access to for a while. I want to start making musical videos again.
The only downside, really, is that I feel kind of mixed about taking in-focus pictures again.
(😂)
Anyway. It’s the truth. I do like being able to zoom in on things, which the Pinephone camera can’t do. I have mixed feelings though, overall, because when I was forced to use the Pinephone camera.. it made me feel kind of nostalgic. So I might kind of go back and forth, depending on what I want.
Weird, isn’t it? To enjoy something being “low-quality”? It’s true.
Idk what it is. I feel like maybe… if it looks “good” then I also get performance anxiety?? I get performance anxiety!!
Wow. I definitely do get performance anxiety.
Also… I guess.. it’s kind of weirded me out to see how cameras have evolved, because there isn’t easy differentiation anymore between a casual “snapshot” /”Polaroid” etc and “this is an official portrait I paid money to have taken”. I like the differentation because of the differences in tone and meaning each situation has.
Anyway. I’ve been wanting to make this post for a while. I took the featured image using my linux System76 computer, which also has a pleasantly nostalgically poor camera.
I’ll probably pick and choose and experiment with what makes me happy.
I’m intentionally trying to not think about the election. What election? Is there an election? I’m sure the things poeple are talking about regarding an election are rumors, right!?!?
!?!??!
*stares into the camera*
