This Post is Dedicated to La Croix

I want to write a post about this drink.

It is disgusting. Most of the flavors taste absolutely terrible! Why do we drink it? Why does anyone drink it?

I drink it because I’m not allergic to it. At least, I’m not allergic to some types of it. I know a lot of people drink it because it isn’t soda.

And here is the thing. It’s so bad, it’s good. It hits the “this must actually be good” weirdness-itch.

You know? The itch. The one that Vogue scratches. When you see models who look like they’re about to keel over from one eating disorder or another, wearing… anything other than what would typically be considered “clothing,” and think, “ooh… look at that style! This is Refinement”

It’s the thing that makes us drink wine, as a young adult, and think, ew, what is this?! It’s so bitter! And then eventually say… “I just love those tannins.” Just kidding, no one says that. But I went from hating wine to liking it!! Why?!!

And what about coffee??! The truth is, I don’t really like coffee that much- I just LOVE the *essence* of what coffee means.. and I adore coffee with all of the froo-froo attachments. Cream, sugar, chocolate, whipped cream. All of that.

But what about coffee itself? Hmm? WHO tries it for the first time and actually thinks it tastes good? Who?

We convince ourselves that things taste good.

Humans are amazing.

And La Croix, team? You are darned lucky that that is true.
